New Teleheath Therapy Provides Positive Social Opportunities for Individuals with Autism

iSocial is a new group telehealth therapy developed by the University of Missouri in Columbia and the Thompson Center for Autism. The program is designed for people with Autism to develop the social skills they need to complete school, get a job, and live independently. Participants work as a team of six with a therapist to grow these skills and create a supportive community.

The first round of sessions started in late August via Zoom. iSocial management is encouraged by the participants’ excitement to meet twice a week with people who have similar strengths and needs. They report that one individual is regularly at his computer an hour early waiting for the program to start. Another individual’s parents were concerned about his willingness to speak and participate using Zoom, but he loves the program, actively participating with a great sense of humor! The group has even organized a game night on their own, outside of scheduled sessions. iSocial management is extremely happy to provide this new opportunity, and excited to see results tracking perfectly with their business plan.

The program is being commercialized by iSocial LLC. iSocial qualified for KS Angel Tax Credit and had their first successful round of investors in August. if you’d like to know more about this program, please contact us at [email protected].
