Technology Venture Studio Sound Byte: Companies Built From Deep Tech

The Technology Venture Studio team is excited to announce Sound Bytes, a new series of sessions that will explore topics surrounding startups, entrepreneurship and technology in Kansas City.

Our first Sound Bytes panel, Companies Built From Deep Tech, will discuss how university innovators can commercialize their technological innovations and how entrepreneurs can leverage deep tech to differentiate their business.

The panel will feature Maria Flynn, founder and CEO of Ambiologix, A.J. Mellott, co-founder and CEO of Ronalk and Ilya Tabakh, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Black & Veatch.

About the speakers

Maria Flynn is the founder and CEO of Ambiologix, a consulting company that provides startups guidance on achieving goals, surpassing obstacles, making decisions and connecting with mentors, investors and clients. Previously, Flynn was president and CEO of Orbis Biosciences, a company that was acquired by Adare Pharmaceuticals in 2020.

A.J. Mellott is the CEO and co-founder of Ronawk, a biotechnology company formed to commercialize stem cell expansion technologies. Founded in 2019, Ronawk’s Bio Block Universe accelerates time to result by eliminating the need for sub-culture in cell production which subsequently decreases contamination risks and increases cell yield.

Ilya Tabakh currently serves as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Black & Veatch, where he helps find, evaluate and support the development of promising new technologies. In this role he, supports the company’s Growth Accelerator and works with other parts of the business to bring innovation to forming markets around critical infrastructure.
