Digital Sandbox KC By The Numbers: Progress Report

Digital Sandbox KC provides proof-of-concept resources to companies in the Kansas City region.  Funded by a $1 million federal i6 Challenge Grant with an additional $500,000 from MTC and $600,000 from local corporations, the program was designed to reach at least 30 early-stage startups and help at least 10 companies secure significant investment during the two-year grant cycle, which ends in September 2014.

By the numbers:

  • 37 proof of concept projects funded for area technology startups
  • 22 new KC-based companies created
  • Funded companies provide 125 area jobs
  • 19 companies have raised follow-on funding to date
  • $7 million in add-on funding raised
  • 19X ROI on companies funded to date
  • $20,000 average proof of concept investment
  • 160 companies assisted
