HomeGrown & Happy Provides an Innovative Way to Experience New Flavors

HomeGrown & Happy

HomeGrown & Happy is bringing the quality of grandma’s cooking and home-canning to everyone’s doorstep with a new online platform.

“We’re passionate about quality ingredients and recipes from the home,” said Christine Sanders, HomeGrown & Happy managing partner. “Our customers share this passion and over the past few years, it has become apparent that they need a better way to share ideas and products.”

The new HomeGrown & Happy online platform provides a community where people can share recipes, ideas and products for nutritious options and joyful new food experiences.  With this unique web-based exchange, customers can custom-order products and truly experience quality foods from different regions, bringing flavorful new food choices into their homes very easily.

“This will help food preservationists and enthusiasts come together to experiment with new flavors and possibilities, while also addressing the challenges of food prep and food waste,” said Sanders.

Sanders and her team believe that food should make you happy. HomeGrown & Happy began from an idea formed by founders Christine Sanders and Ginger Newman, who even at a young age were very food adventurous. In 2015, they took over the Great Gran’s Homestyle Pickles label, successfully expanding the brand across the Kansas City metro.

Earlier this year, HomeGrown & Happy became the first company to receive funding from Digital Sandbox KC and our partnership with the City of Independence. Through this program, Homegrown & Happy was awarded project development funding, coworking space at the Ennovation Center in Independence and support from the Independence EDC’s iNtech Growth Program, which focuses on tech company commercialization.

“The resources at the Ennovation Center and the funding from Digital Sandbox KC make Independence the best place for us to set up shop for the online platform and continued growth for our company,” said Sanders.

“The launch of HomeGrown & Happy’s online platform and company evolution is exactly the type of business activity we want to encourage – both as a service organization and partner with Digital Sandbox KC,” said Lee Langerock, executive director of the Ennovation Center. “The Ennovation Center and Independence EDC’s iNtech growth program exist with a single purpose: Help Business Grow.”

The company’s online food exchange is scheduled to launch this fall.
